November begins tomorrow, so that means it's time to support MOvember once again. For the past several years, we've donated a portion of our sales of Two Shadows (which includes Charlie's story of learning he had prostate cancer) to this organization. Here's what they're about:
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.During the first 2 weeks of November 2012, we will donate
$5 per paperback sale and $1.50 per Kindle sale of Two Shadows to MOvember. Only sales made through The Winger Bookstore and Amazon will apply, since we have no way of tracking sales through other channels.
Over the years, women have overcome the taboos that once existed around breast cancer -- no longer are we too embarrassed to talk about breast cancer, or to ask questions about health care options related to breast cancer. Unfortunately, prostate cancer and the frequent side effects of treatment -- ED (erectile dysfunction) and incontinence -- are still taboo subjects. Men (and their partners) may not know anyone else to talk to about their treatment options or know where to turn for support. Some may not know what tests are available or appropriate for their situation. And, most importantly, some may die because they weren't diagnosed in time.
Help us battle against prostate cancer by supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation, LIVESTRONG, and MOvember -- donate today!
Update: We raised $33.00 through this promotion for MOvember. Thanks for your support!
